Registration page for workshop on climate risk insurance

November 5, 2018
Baobab Room, Taj Pamodzi
Lusaka, Zambia

This workshop, a collaboration between GIZ, MCII and the ILO, is an opportunity for information exchange and for open discussions on the role of insurance, both its weaknesses and strengths.  It includes country case studies and discussions on implementation of policies and recent experiences of planning, as well as in-depth skills training tailored to the specific needs of system-wide planners. This will help to facilitate the open exchange of information and provide real-life examples of the challenges and rewards of using insurance as a tool for adaptation. Bringing together various stakeholders, the workshop will discuss the success factors, challenges and lessons being learned in building resilience in vulnerable communities and enterprises.

The workshop is targeted at representatives from various stakeholders - insurance and reinsurance companies, distribution channels, investment funds, international organisations, NGOs and development aid agencies, as well as academics, policymakers and supervisory regulators- interested in developing an integrated view on climate risk management. The draft agenda for the workshop can be found here.
